China’s Beijing Ducks Offers Abueva $1.8M One Year Contract
It
looks like Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters point guard Calvin Abueva is having the last laugh after a foreign basketball league shows interest on his service.

China Basketball Association (CBA), the second biggest basketball league in the world after the NBA, is offering suspended PBA player Calvin Abueva the biggest
payout of his basketball career, the South China Morning News reported on

Beijing
Ducks of the CBA, the third most valuable team, is offering Abueva a one-year restricted contract for $1.8 million, or roughly P90M.
The
Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters point guard is currently on indefinite suspension
after the PBA slapped him with P70,000 fine after hitting import Terrence
Jones.
As
for PBA rules, any player who is under suspension is not allowed to participate
in any basketball game inside or outside the country, but Abueva’s case is an
exception considering that there is no definite time when he is going to be
allowed to play again. Additionally, he is not receiving any salary while on
suspension so it is highly likely that the versatile point guard would accept
the massive offer.
Beijing
Ducks is one of the most popular basketball teams in China and some NBA players
also played there, especially former NBA star Stephon Marbury, who stayed with
the team for years.
“The
massive offer is hard to ignore and a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Abueva’s
agent Patrick Salamanca told reporters on Monday. Salamanca said he is flying
to China tomorrow together with Abueva and two other assistants including a
lawyer to discuss the matter with Beijing Ducks executives.
