Manila Beauty Shops Shave Off Half Ton of Pubic Hair ahead Valentines Day

Flushed with anticipation and ready to emerge from another long, stressful day jobs, hundreds of thousands of Filipinos in metro Manila participated this week in the annual tradition of trimming their pubic regions in time for Valentine’s Day.

A ritual as old as time itself, this year’s pubis-shearing is expected to be among the largest in decades, with more than 475 kilograms of curly clippings predicted to fall by Feb. 14, Wigs 4 Kids said on Wednesday

“My boyfriend told me that this year’s Valentines Day will gonna be special so I have to make sure everything is prepared, especially myself,” Samantha, a 21 year old call center agent who had her pubes shaven at Davids Salon told Candy Magazine.

Wigs 4 Kids said they collected more curly hair this year compared to previous year after they asked help from major salons like David’s Salon, Reyes Haircutters, and Let’s Face It among others.

Wigs 4 Kids is an organization dedicated to providing no cost wigs to children and young adults
(ages 3-18) in the Michigan area who have experienced hair loss due to cancer, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns, and various other conditions. Despite only having clients within the Michigan area, Wigs 4 Kids accepts donations from around the world.

Todays day of hearts also boosted beauty shops’ sales and made hotels fully-booked across the country.

Gillete also reported a 600% increase of sales on razors and other related products like shaving fluids and lotions.

The short curly hair will be used on wigs intended for young black children in US.
