Bam Aquino: Like My Uncle Ninoy, I Was Born to Serve the Filipino People
Senator Benigno Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV on Wednesday told reporters that there is only one reason why he is following the footsteps of his uncle, former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr, and his cousin, former President benign “Noynoy” Aquino III.
“I just want to serve the public and nothing else. We are family of public servant and it is our pride and honor to serve the public”, Aquino said.
Aquino held a short press conference in his senate office to give reaction on the dismissal of drug-related cases against Kerwin Espinosa, and Peter Lim – a known friend of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Like Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who earlier said “Duterte’s war on drugs is fake”, Aquino said the dismissal of both high-profile drug lords proves that Duterte can acquit his friends even if the person poses great danger to the society.
“This is just a big drama. Let’s wait what happens next while Sen. De Lima is still inside the jail”, Aquino said.
“Yong umamin na drug lord pinakawalan, pero si Sen. Leila na walang kasalanan e nakakulong pa rin. The double standard is obvious”, he said.
Duterte was reportedly angry at the DOJ after the two were dismissed but Aquino said Duterte’s drama is obvious. He then reiterated that the President is just all about power and not for public service.
“Uulitin kop o, kaya tayo nasa pulitika ay para mag serbisyo sa taumbayan, hindi para magpasikat”, Aquino said.
