Amid BOC’s tightened shipping procedure on Balikbakayn boxes, several BOC employees are still doing dirty works.

The incident was reported by CCTV technician who reviewed the videos on Friday.

Arthur Libro, the CCTV technician who was tasked to review the videos before safekeeping the tapes noticed something not ordinary. The incident happened last July 10, 2017 inside one of BOC’s warehouses in Pasay where Honrade was assigned.

In a video forwarded to the NBI and shown to reporters shortly after on Friday, a woman – identified as Grace Honrade, was seen pulling a box from one of balikbayan boxes, while her two fellow workers (not seen on video) were busy opening other boxes.

The suspects later admitted that they took several items including two wrist watches, a pair of sneakers, two designer bags, two mobile phones, and an SLR digital camera amounting to P67,000.

Honrade, a contractual employee who has been working in the warehouse for 8 months admitted to take home several items already.

The three faces qualified theft and other charges.

Authorities are still reviewing the week-long CCTV footage for possible additional irregularities before showing the shortened version on public.

BOC board member Atty. Rex Pabalete has reminded the shippers, especially the OFWs to refrain from sending valuable items like electronic gadgets that costs more than P5,000 inside Balikbayan boxes to avoid similar incidents.

BOC is also changing its procedure on sending packages (declaration of content), to zero-out the opening of boxes during inspection. /Macky Biglete/
