National Housing Authority Undersecretary Martha Clemente on Thursday said the Marawi rehabilitation project so far is far better the the Yolanda recovery after 4 months. Clemente prompted to comment after one of the reporters asked her about the progress of Marawi housing project.
Aquino on his part belied Clemente’s claim.

“And mahirap kasi sa atin pag-naiipit tayo magtuturo kaagad tayo. So far, based on records, we build 5,400 housing units 4 months after Yolanda, while the current government built only 1,500 houses for Marawi victims. Masyadong malinaw di ba, na nagsisinungaling si Atty. Clemente”, Aquino said.
The Marawi housing rehabilitation project is becoming a hot topic after reports of slow progress angered President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Kung hindi sya kuntento sa mabagal na trabaho e di palitan niya mga tao nya. Hindi yong magbabanggit tayo ng mga bagay na matagl nang tapos.”, Aquino added referring to Mr. Duterte.
Mr. Duterte has been unsatisfied by how slow the Marawi housing project is.

Several onsite experts also noted that rampant corruption is plaguing the area.

“This is worse than Yolanda rehabilitation. After four months, only around 1,500 houses were buiklt”, Caritas Shiedl Foundation Roland Tupaz said, comparing the situation worse than Syria.
“This is not we expected from the Duterte government”, he added.
