On Friday, the 21-year old and political science graduate Renato Reyes III joined together with hundreds of applicants to take admission test at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City.

Army Capt. Leonida Tumbaga, the officer who receives filled-up application forms from applicants noticed Reyes holding a familiar pro-communism book. She then asked her associate, Lt. Julio Caesar Corpuz to asked the applicant why he has pro-communism book while applying to be a Philippine Military official.

“I brought him inside my office and asked several questions why he is in a possession of what we considered a subversive material. He told me that he just borrowed a book from a friend while he was on his way to the academy,” Corpuz said.

“We cannot allow such insult to this famed and prestigious institution so we decided to send him home. I told him to go back next year if he really want to be a member of Philippine Military”,  Corpuz added.

The officer later said that Reyes III brought a book, “Building People’s Power”  by communist leader Joma Sison – the book which is strictly banned from the campus and in members of the Philippine Military.

Reyes Jr. has not yet commented on his son’s unfortunate but expected to criticize the academy sooner or later.
