Akbayan Lawmaker to Sue Technician for Distributing Explicit Videos from His Phone

Akbayan Party List Representative Tom Villarin on Tuesday confirmed that he will be filing defamation charges against a cellphone technician after an explicit personal video from his phone finds its way to the social media.

Villarin earlier accused Labor Undersecretary Jacinto “Jing” Paras of stealing his phone only to realize later that he left the gadget at a cellphone repair shop in Farmer’s Cubao to have it fixed.

Problems started to occur when a sex video of a couple whose faces are both blurred, surfaced on Facebook and garnered more than 100,000 views before it was shut down on Tuesday morning.

Although the identity of the couple remained unknown, a caption says the video was from Villarin’s phone. Only the last name “Villarin” was mentioned and not his first name.

Jerry Boy Tondo, the technician who fixed Villarin’s phone denied the allegation and said he had never seen the video.

Some people on social media were also confused about the lawmaker’s reaction especially that his name was never mentioned.

“E ba’t sya mag-rereact e di naman na-mention kung sing Villarin. Ang dami kayang Villarin dito sa Pilipinas,” one of the comments said.

Although the face of the man on the video was blurred, some commenters said the body resembles of that of the concerned lawmaker. The woman was younger and estimated to be in middle to late 20’s.
The lawmaker said he is going to pursue filing the case but never admit nor deny whether he was the one on the video.
