Serial Scammer Wesley Bacate of RUAffiliates Arrested
The Pasig Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), with the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), have finally arrested serial online scammer Wesley Bacate on Monday after more than a year of hiding.
Bacate, the person behind online scam RUAffiliates, Success200, and other online scam programs, has a pending warrant of arrest issued in October last year.
Bacate faces multiple counts of syndicated estafa after luring people to invest more than 182 million into his latest scam – the RUAffiliates.
According to police and court records, more than 26,000 people mostly from Laguna and Batangas lost an average of P10,000 each from July September 2016 to August 2017. Bacate made more than P100 million in the process according to the documents.
More than 1,000 people filed a coordinated syndicated estafa against Bacate and 3 of his unidentified cohorts.
Bacate is the founder of RUAffiliates with the help of at least five people who are mostly web programmers.
Bacate is currently detained at Pasig City Jail without bond.
