Grace Poe Regains US Citizenship

The Boston district court has granted Mr. Niel Llamanzares’ appeal to re-grant his wife, Sen. Grace Poe, her US citizenship less than a year after the latter lost her bid in Philippine presidential elections.
In a 27-page decision read by the district court, Secretary Atty. Amanda Gallagher, Poe’s denouncement of her American Citizenship eight months prior to presidential elections was not fully granted by circuit Judge Mathew Newman, so her US citizenship was not fully revoked. The decision said that Poe was technically an American citizen when she ran for president pending decision.
Llamanzares filed a motion for reconsideration after his wife lost in the election in fear that his wife might get involved in any political turmoil under President Rodrigo Duterte.
Poe’s citizenship was a subject of several petitions against her during the campaign period. The cases were dismissed after the senator came in third behind Pres. Duterte and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.
Although petitions against Poe were not succeeded in court, her campaign was badly hurt by the issues surrounding her citizenship.
Sen. Poe is now officially held dual citizenship after the Boston district court closed the decision.
Poe will remain a senator until her term concludes on 2019, but she cannot run any higher public office unless she fully denounces her US citizenship and the US court totally removes her from US census registry.

DeletePa-issue lang tong detractors ni Sen. Poe. Well, ano pa nga bang aasahan sa inyo. Isa lang masasabe ko! Hindi na yan tatalab samin lalong lalo na sa atng mga kababayan. Kita naman nila ang resulta ng mga ginawa ni Senator.
ReplyDeleteBago kau magsulat ng article, dapat may facts kaung pinanghahawakan. Sabagay mga bayaran kau kaya kahit na nananahimik si Senadora Grace, kung ano-anong tsismis pinapakalat nyo. Problema lang mukha kaung tanga dahil walang maniniwala sa inyo nyo.

ReplyDeleteLakas ng trip. Dapat ang kinucover nyo hindi si Grace Poe. Try nyo naman ung siPoong Digong, kumusta ang WPS? Eh yung utang natin sa ibang bansa, kaya pa ng gobyerno nating bayaran. Sinasabe ko sau hindi si Sen. Grace ang problema dito. Kundi kayong nagpapakatanga sa ating gobyerno.
