CBCP, CHR to File Charges Against Albayalde, Eleazar for Shaming Addict Rookie Cop

The Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) joined forces with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), and other rights groups in condemning top two highest police officials in the country over the alleged public shaming of the arrested rookie cop.
On Friday, Lingayen-Dagupan and former CBCP president Archbishop Socrates Villegas denounced the treatment of the top Philippine National Police officials (PNP), of PO1 Jeffrey Amador, who was arrested over the possession of illegal drugs.
On the video which became viral on social media, PHO Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde was seen scolding Amador while NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar was holding him.
Netizens, however, praised the actions of two top police officers and commented on how they do their job.
CHR and other right groups including Gabriela joined the CBCP in criticizing the police officers. The ACT Teacher’s party List, on the other hand, said they will file a formal complaint against the officials.
When asked however about their reaction on the wife of Amador, who was badly beaten by the addict police, none of any of the group’s representative gives any comment, especially the Gabriela who supposed to protect women.
The PNP on the other hand just chided the threat calling it futile and useless.
“Dapat ang pinoprotektahan nila ay ang mga nabibiktima ng mga taong kagaya nitong si Amador, hindi ang mga criminal na kagaya niya”, PNP spokesman Chief Inspector Edgar Roleda said.
The arrest of PO1 Jeffrey Amador, 29, while in the act of receiving marked money from a police poseur-buyer in exchange for a pack of shabu in front of his house at 23 Providencia St., Bgy. Signal, Taguig City at 8:45 p.m. stemmed from a complaint of his 22-year-old wife Michelle, of Blk. II, Lot 5, Herbs St., Lower Bicutan, who revealed to authorities that her husband was involved in illegal drugs.
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr. said PO1 Amador was already the subject of their monitoring for his involvement in illegal drugs even before his wife surfaced.Apolinario said that earlier, PO1 Amador’s wife Michelle sought the assistance of the NBI in filing a complaint against her husband for repeatedly beating and maltreating her even without any apparent reason.
