Dingdong Dantes Declines Offer to Run Under LP Banner

As the national elections draw near, hopeful public servants and re-electionists are slowly making their way into public view. Among the names rumored to take his chances for a Senate seat is Kapuso primetime king Dingdong Dantes.

However, he shunned commenting on the issue when he was asked by a group of reporters at the media launch of his upcoming film untitled film, which he leads with fellow former “T.G.I.S” co-star Anne Curtis.

“I received a number of offers to run under Sen. Kiko’s party but I respectfully declined as I have not decided yet. My wife doesn’t want me to enter into politics. I myself don’t like politics. I don’t know why people left and right are asking me to run”, Dantes said.

He added that the Liberal Party promised him full support if he decided to join the party but he said he repeatedly declined.

Meanwhile, other reports say Dantes would be running for a Congressional seat, however, nothing has been confirmed yet and the actor remains quiet whether he would eventually be stepping into the political arena.

Congressman Teddy Baguilat earlier said that the Liberal Party could win the majority of people like Dantes join his group.

“He is already helping people and I think he can offer more help is he becomes a senator”, Baguilat said.

Dantes, on the other hand, said he will continue his philanthropic work despite a being a private person.

“I help people because I love to help, not because I need their vote”, he said.
