230 Kgs of Marijuana Disappeared from Naga City Police Warehouse Allegedly Eaten By Rats

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating a very rare case within the Philippine National Police (PNP) organization in Naga City, after authorities reported that 230 kilograms of marijuana disappeared from its safety warehouse.

On Thursday,. Six police officers including a senior superintendent were put on protective custody after the witness said they were involved in an unlikely crime.

At least three of them however said that the seven sacks of marijuana weighing almost 230 kilograms were destroyed by rats.

The Naga City police safety warehouse is holding more than 500 kilograms of marijuana seized from several criminals. Almost half however disappeared after its scheduled destruction by burning on April 27.

NBI investigators assigned to the case speculated that the bulk contraband were sold in order to raise fund for Bgy. Elections.

Authorities said they are eyeing for at least three influential individuals connected to the Vice President as possible masterminds.

Authorities did not give any names while investigation is ongoing.

The lost evidence has a street value of at least 35 million according to authorities.
