Ex-Senator in Hot Water after Bringing Out Hotel’s Towel as Souvenir, Aide Arrested
Police rushed to Sogo Alabang on Sunday night after an employee was slapped by a man who works as an aide of one of the hotel’s customers.
Jumar Crebillo, 34, of Sampaloc, Manila, was arrested by authorities after 3 witnesses identified him as the person who slapped and beaten Jenny Anne Corteza – a hotel employee.
According to the police report, Corteza meet 3 men in the alley with the first holding the unused and still packed hotel’s towel and when she told the men that bringing any of the hotel’s property outside is illegal, one of the three men slapped and pushed her injuring her right arm.
“May nakasalubong po akong customer na may bitbit na towel, sabi kop o “sir bawal pong ilabas ang gamit ng hotel”. Di niya po ako pinansin tapos yong isa sa dalawang kasunod sinabihan akong wag daw po ako maki-alam. Sabi ko bawal po talaga. Bigla nya po akong sinampal ng dalawang beses tapos tinulak po ako. Nagsigawan po yong iilang customers na nasa alley kaya mejo nataranta din ang lahat at tumawag nap o ang mga kasamahan ko ng pulis”, Corteza said.
Three patrolling police officers who happened to be just under the overpass outside the hotel responded and arrested the suspect.
It was later identified that Crebillo is one of two personal bodyguards by former Senator Jinggoy Estrada. The man who was carrying the towel was actually Estrada but employees did not noticed him because he immediately fled the scene to hide himself from public.
Police only arrested Crebillo as the other unidentified aide has fled the area together with the senator, but witnesses said the other unidentified aide was not involved in the physical altercation.
The hotel management refused to give details why the senator was at the hotel, but several witnesses said he was with a woman earlier. The woman left when his two bodyguards entered his room to fetch him.
Crebillo is facing physical injuries and possible business sabotage.
Estrada’s office refused to give comment as of press time.
The hotel said they were not able to recover the towel brought by Estrada and thought he wanted to keep it as souvenir.
