Palawan Pawnshop Refuses to Serve Man for Trying to Send Money to His “Mistress”

A Palawan Pawnshop branch in Lipa City, Batangas on Monday caught public attention after a customer and a teller engaged in a heated altercation while exchanging profanity for more than 10 minutes.

According to the shoe repairman who rent a place just outside the establishment, Mario Pedraja is a regular customer who sends money to his daughter every 15th and 30th of the month. Pedraja, a native of Lucban, Quezon, is working as a security guard in the nearby building.

“Nong isang buwan pa iyan si pareng Mario nagrereklamo dahil alam na daw na anak niya ang papadalhan e sa dami pa ng tanong,” Tonying, the shoe repair man said.

According to Tonying and other bystanders, the heated argument started when the male teller who was newly assigned to the branch asked Pedraja what was the money for. Pedraja reportedly replied “panggastos”. When the teller asked him what was his relationship with the receiver, Pedraja replied sarcastically “kabit ko”.

Felt insulted, the teller told Pedraja to answer him properly and that’s when the argument started.
Nakakabuwisit na eh!”, Pedraja reportedly answered the tellerr.

The argument reportedly lasted for ten minutes resulting to Pedraja denied of service.
Pedraja later told the local radio station that Palawan’s policy to ask the purpose of money despite knowing that the receiver is a family member is ridiculous.

Several Palawan regular customers echoed the same sentiments.
E kung kamag-anak naman parang pang-hihimasok naman yan ng personal na buhay”, another customer who refused to give her name said.

The company lately got the ire of many people after implementing its new policy, but the latest incident is considered a major issue that the company should address.

The branch manager refused to give a statement to the media and insisted that they are doing their job to protect their customers’ interest.

Pedraja said he will never use Palawan anymore and will start using other services like Cebuana or MLullier.
