Ex-Poll Chief Bautista Buys ₱32-M House in Los Angeles, California

It looks like former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista is staying for good in the United States and has no plan to return to the Philippines sooner or later.

On Thursday, Filipino-American real estate agent based in Stevenson Ranch in Los Angeles, California, revealed during the Filipino-American Real Estate Summit that the former poll chief has purchased a $659,000 house ranch through his agency.

The 4-bedroom house, which was valued at ₱32.9 million, is built inside the 650-square meter property.

The real estate agent added that Bautista paid his agency in all cash.
The house, which was posted on an online real estate website before it marked SOLD on Thursday night had the following details.

“Highly sought after Crestview Single Story Home! Open and Bright floor plan, plantation shutters, and recessed lights with an office that could convert to 4th bedroom. The spacious living room opens to gourmet granite kitchen with center isle highlighted by professional stainless steel appliances and maple cabinetry that will delight any cook! Master Bedroom features generous walk-in closet and sliders that overlook the rear grounds. Located in prime Stevenson Ranch Community with award-winning schools, great shopping, entertainment, restaurants and excellent access to the freeway. LOW HOA and NO MELLO ROOS TAX!”

Bautista left for the United States earlier due to health problems and said to have been seeking medications, but the news about this real-estate related made his critics curious.

The former official was said to be suffering from “secondary pulmonary hypertension” possibly due to obstructive sleep apnea.

This was revealed by Bautista’s elder brother, Dr. Martin D. Bautista, a US-based gastroenterologist, to philamessenger.com.

According to Dr. Bautista, the former Comelec chief, has been complaining of dyspnea, fatigue, and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Bautista has preliminarily been assessed and treated for essential hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
Dr. Bautista further revealed that his brother’s treatment is continuing.

“We recommend that he refrain from prolonged travel since there is a concern about possible pulmonary embolism s etiology of pulmonary hypertension,” he said.

Dr. Bautista explained, “there is a possibility of heightened fatal blood clot whenever you go on long-term traveling.”

He also rejected the possibility that his younger brother is in hiding from the Senate because, in the first place, his brother has not received a subpoena to appear before the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions, and currencies chaired by Sen. Chiz Escudero.
