Former Lawmaker Urge Sandiganbayan top Reopen Trillanes Magdalo Case
Former congressman and high profile lawyer Jesus Villafuerte is asking the Supreme Court to reopen the Oakwood Mutiny case which involves sitting senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
On Tuesday, Villafuerte sent a letter to Associate Justice Corazon Dela Paz asking the court to reconsider the Oakwood case because “the punishment for perpetrators were not enough”.
Villafuerte singled out Trillanes as the mastermind without mentioning Bureau of Customs Commissioner Capt. Nicanor Faeldon.
Villafuerte said Trillanes should still be in jail.
“The Supreme Court made a terrible mistake during the previous administrations. Trillanes should still be in jail and should have been barred from running in any public positions. We are urging the current Supreme Court to reopen the case for retrial”, Villafuerte said in a letter.

Antonio Trillanes IV of the Philippine Navy took over the Oakwood Premier Ayala Center (now Ascott Makati) serviced apartment tower in Makati City to show the Filipino people the alleged corruption of the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration.
Trillanes was jailed for almost seven and a half years. He won his first Senate term while being detained.
Trillanes is a known critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, and allegedly conspired with China.
