Teddy Casiño Formally Joins NPA to Evade Arrest

One of four militant leaders who is wanted for murder is apparently running out of option and decided to join the New People’s Army (NPA), to avoid arrest.
Former Bayan Muna Representative Teodoro “Teddy” Casiño reportedly joined the “terrorist group” on Friday after a group put at least ₱250,000 bounty on his head.
Before the news that Casiño joined the NPA broke out in Saturday, current Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate branded the P1 million cash reward by a group against the four militant leaders as a “cheap political stunt and vendetta.”
“This is evidently a cheap political stunt and vendetta by sycophants who want to claw their way to power. If anything untoward happens to our Makabayan leaders, we will hold [lawyer Ferdinand] Topacio, et.al. directly responsible,” Zarate said in a statement.
Topacio earlier announced that the Citizens’ Crime Watch group would give a cash reward on whoever could provide an information on the whereabouts of Anti-Poverty Commissioner Liza Maza, former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael “Paeng” Mariano, and former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casiño.
Casiño reportedly joined the Melito Glor Command under the tutelage of NPA commander Jaime Padilla.
The group issued a short statement on Saturday verifying Casiño’s presence and said that he was concerned about his personal safety so he decided to join his comrades for protection.
The former lawmaker is expected to assume a bigger role in the group’s ground operation.
