After collecting 324 different legal cases filed against him since he entered politics, Senator Trillanes wins the Most Charged Politician. The outgoing senator also accused 623 times verbally according to the records, making him the most accused and charged sitting politician in a democratic country.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump wins the Most Accusations by a sitting politician in a democratic country after the secretariat collected 874 Trump accusations against his political opponents including 32 accusations against Hilary Clinton, 29 against Barack Obama, and 16 against Senator Elizabeth Warren. The rest on the list are all directed to members of the Democratic Party.

Trillanes fell short on the category won by Trump. The secretariat listed 529 Trillanes accusations against President Rodrigo Duterte and his family, 345 behind Trump’s.

Trillanes’ last term as Senator will conclude this June 30 while President Trump is heading into re-election on December 2020.

Since this is the first time the Guinness Secretariat is giving such an award, it is not sure if the two politicians are going to accept the awards and/or how they are going to react.

“People would think these are negative awards but these aren’t. We are trying to do our best to record anything whether positive or negative as long as the recipients deserve it,” Guinness organizer Paul Schweitzer told BBC News.

Trillanes and Trump will be included in the September publication of the Guinness Book of World Records.
