Renato Reyes Blames Taal Eruption Over Cancelled Caribbean Cruise, Meeting with Joma Sison
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) Secretary-General Renato Reyes on Tuesday said his “trip of a lifetime” was sabotaged by Taal Volcano’s eruption.
Reyes and his family were reportedly scheduled to a 10-day Caribbean trip onboard Majesty of the Seas, a cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise.
“Ganun talaga, hindi mo talaga inaasahan na may mangyayaring ganito. Sayang at 2 days na lang sana di natuloy gawa nga ng bulkan, walang flights. Tingnan pa natin kung makaka-request tayo ng full refund dun sa (travel) agency”, Renato told media on Tuesday.
The activist group official also said that he supposed to visit communist leader Joma Sison at The Hague before going to Italy where he and his family board the famed cruise ship. When asked who paid his holiday vacation, Reyes said he has a lot of friends who gifted him the travel.
“Marami po tayong kaibigan at di po tayo gumagastos ng sariling pera. Bigay lang eh nakakahiya naming tanggihan”, Reyes said.
He added that the cruising was only second important to meeting with Sison. Matagal na rin po kaming di nagkita, may ilang years na rin kaya mas important po ang meeting with Prof. Joma kaysa sa crusing. Syempre nandun na rin lang lubus-lubisin na sana kaso yan nga, pumutok ang Taal, di natin alam kung pwedeng i-pa rebook.
